This weeks inspiration...
My recent trip to Ambleside in the Lake District has sparked so much joy and inspiration. From the idyllic scenery to the quaint buildings and shops; I would definitely call this place heaven. On our final day we were able to spend some time browsing the cute shops hunting for little pieces of inspiration. This is what I found upon my search...
I love the boldness and the colourfulness of 'Ken's Studio' hand made vases, I think they really stand out and love the quirkiness of the designs and shapes. I then found a lovely journal by 'The Fox and the Star'. I have always been a lover of lino cutting and couldn't resist this sweet print. I love the simplicity of the trees. It fascinates me when a design tells a story and what I imagine when I look at this pattern is a lone fox wandering through the open woodlands in spring on the search for his dream.
I always look for bright floral designs when I am seeking for inspiration. Theres just something about spring and summer blooms that make me so happy. I believe this stems from my childhood when I can remember our easter egg hunts and my mum taking me around car boot sales when the new season started in the Spring. I loved the freshness of the air and seeing the lambs in the fields. This is something that has always stuck with me and I look forward to the spring season all year round.
A little fact about me is that I have been vegetarian for the past two and a half years. I love animals and believe that they should not be a source of food. Especially in this day and age when we are unsure of where our food comes from and the conditions in which they are sourced. I won't go into too much detail about the reasons as to why I chose to eat the way I do but I always get so excited when I see cute little vegetables and fruits as cuddly toys, illustrations, prints... you name it! I cannot wait to have my own children one day and buy them all the cute jelly cat teddies and wooden toys. Not to forget my love for cute animals dressed up... I just think they are so sweet and inspiring!
Last but not least... I stumbled across a print that says 'There is Beauty in Simplicity'. I am a strong believer in living life simply, I don't like to buy tonnes of new items unless I truly need them. I look after what I have got and enjoy them until they are either falling to pieces or completely gone. I enjoy the simple things in life like getting my wellies on and going for a long country walk, reading an inspiring book, designing, making little crafts and cards, sitting and drinking a cup of tea in my favourite mug, exercising, shopping for healthy foods and picking up loose vegetables and fruits and cooking a wholesome vegetarian meal. These are the things that I love doing and I think if everybody simplified their life by a fraction then the world would be a much kinder and happy place.
